Water Collection

The Water collection is based on Tania’s photography capturing fleeting moments in time created by the movement of water. Translated into rugs, these unique images of light and reflections on water are woven by hand from silk and wool.
In Waterlines, swirling lines of pattern are created by light dancing on water. The gradating shades of colour are woven in pure silk.
Circular ripples of motion form as raindrops splash on a lake
Reflections of silken leaves flow over a stream’s ripples and waves.
A reflection of reeds in a lake is briefly transformed into a pattern of ripples as a breeze blows over the water’s surface.
An undulating design is created as a wave breaks the water’s smooth surface.
Reflections of branches appear and fade in the puddles of water left after a rainstorm. Varying pile heights and the sheen of pure silk mimic the movement of the water.
Whirl captures the swirling movement of water through darker tones of wool gradating into paler shades of silk.
Inspired by waves lapping the shore at dusk the intricate weave and shine of the silk wool blend mimics the movement of water.
All of these complex designs are translated into intricately hand woven rugs, made by artisans in Nepal, using a combination of silk and wool. We have a long standing relationship with local rug producers and work closely with GoodWeave, a certification programme with a rigorous and binding set of rules that ensures no child labour is used in the production of rugs.
